Guelph Teeth Whitening
Your smile plays a significant part in the impressions you leave with people. It is usually the very first thing that people notice about you. Your teeth are a major component of the quality of your smile. When your teeth are perfectly straight and dazzling white, your smile can leave a long-lasting impression.
Dull, discolored teeth leave a lasting impression too, just not the one you wanted. Discolored teeth not only affect the quality of your smile, but they can also affect your confidence, causing you to hide your smile or even smile less often. At Bisson Dentistry we can restore the bright white brilliance to your teeth, and improve your smile with ZOOM! Whitening. The gel is applied to your teeth after the gums have been protected and the light is then activated for 60 minutes. During that time, the gel is reapplied.
What causes tooth discoloration?
The outermost layer of your teeth, the enamel, is hard and strong. It is also naturally white in color. Over time, natural wear causes tiny microfractures to form. These fractures trap pigments, stains and other debris that can lead to discoloration. There are several factors that contribute to the discoloration of your teeth.
- Foods and drinks such as curries, tomato sauces, coffee, tea, and red wine.
- Smoking, as well as other tobacco products.
- Some types of medications.
Why not just use over-the-counter whiteners?
There are numerous over-the-counter whitening products available at many different stores. These products range from strips, gels, pens, toothpaste and more. While they may be affordable, they contain very low levels of bleaching agents. They rarely help you to achieve the results you are looking for and often take a long time to even see a minor difference in the color of your teeth.
Amazing Results With Professional Whitening
At Bisson Dentistry, we can help you to achieve the whiter, brighter smile you are looking for right in the comfort of your own home with take-home trays. It is important to note that if you have any restorations, such as bonding or tooth-colored fillings, that have been stained, these will need to be replaced as they will not respond to any whitening.
Your treatment starts with taking impressions of your mouth. These impressions enable us to create custom fit trays specifically for your mouth. We then provide you with the trays, the whitening agent, and instructions for proper use. These trays are designed to be worn for 3 to 4 hours every day for one to two weeks. By the end of your treatment, you will notice drastic results that significantly improve the quality of your smile.
Keeping Your New Smile Bright
While professional treatment can help you to achieve incredible results, it is not a permanent solution. The same factors that led to your discoloration in the first place can cause discoloration again. Fortunately, there are things you can do keep your new smile white.
- Avoid, or limit, foods and beverages that cause stains.
- Drink plenty of water, especially following consuming anything that can stain.
- Quit smoking.
- Brush and floss your teeth daily.
- Have your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year.
